Seriens første inkarnation på PlayStation 2, og det første Final Fantasy-spil i fuld 3D. Kampsystemet er blevet grundigt fornyet, og figurerne udvikler sig nu via det originale "Sphere Grid". Men grundlæggende ligner Final Fantasy sig selv.
